MANICURE MUSE: Chanel Couture Spring ‘13
Romance is in the air, and not just because Valentine’s day is around the corner. Check out the Chanel Couture show and the Ladyfinger to match…
MANICURE MUSE: Armani Privé Couture Spring ‘13
Armani Prive Couture would totally up the Red Carpet ante. Agreed? Get the Ladyfinger.
MANICURE MUSE: Chanel Spring ‘13
Remember in the 90s when tube tops were all the rage? Remember when your mom wouldn’t let you have one, so you kicked up your skirt over your prepubescent bust to mimic one? Now you have Karl’s permission. And if you feel like just wearing a sweater as a dress, that’s ok too (like this multi-colored ribbon knit that inspired this Ladyfinger). Also of note for Chanel’s Spring ‘13 collection were the statement-making accessories featuring plastic wide-brimmed hats, oversized layered pearls, and a hula-hooop iconic quilted bag.
MANICURE MUSE: Balmain Spring ‘13
For Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain Spring ’13 collection, the theme is go big or go home. And no, it’s not about the 1980s perm. Instead, its about the nineties power suit that generously welcomes the shoulder pad back with the series of oversize smoking jackets with a serious shoulder. “It’s the nineties, Latin-style,” Rousteing declared. The Latin part came by way of leather crop tops, oversized hoop earrings, harlequin prints, and the elaborate woven wicker pieces inspired by Cuba. One thing is for sure– Rousteing never fails at producing a show that sizzles. The glam-chic Balmain power woman is definitely someone to aspire to.
MANICURE MUSE: Ajak Deng in Chanel for Obsession Magazine
I stumbled across this editorial from Obsession Magazine and fell in love with the futuristic take on the Fall ’12 collections. Ajak Deng models the likes of Chanel, Balmain, Prada, and Balenciaga with the most fierce techno warrior armor. This Chanel jacket, in particular, really caught my eye with the 3-D geometric panes on such a feminine silhouette. If it’s any indication of where Chanel is heading in the future, then let’s thank our lucky stars.

MANICURE MUSE: Chanel Cruise ‘13
Let them have ladyfingers! On Monday, King Karl took reign over Versailles to present Chanel’s 2013 Cruise collection. His re-imagined Marie Antoinette was the ultimate mash-up of “Ghetto Royale” (which actually played as the soundtrack to the show) mixing opulence with rocker chic. Formal eighteenth century silhouettes like pantaloons, stacks of ruffles, and circle skirts translate to modern day with denim and punky flat forms. The best part? Similar to their historical counterparts, models sported candy-colored wigs and signature Chanel logos for beauty marks.
To emulate this look, I used I Will! by L’Oreal, and Neon Pink and Red Color Club duo.
To get these ladyfingers:
1. Paint your full nail white
2. Using a red nail art brush or pen, draw swirls to create a “W” half way up your nail
3. Fill in the bottom portion leaving some white space
4. Once dry layer pink swirls on top
5. Top it off with top coat
MANICURE MUSE: Stella McCartney AW’12
After a sporty chic Spring ‘12 collection and with Olympic uniforms on the way, it comes as no surprise that Stella McCartney is keeping the athletic-wear ball rolling for Fall. “The Stella woman is about balance,” said McCartney of her Fall collection. Body con tweed dresses with symmetrical white stripes are fine by me, so, with that said, I give you my Stella McCartney ladyfingers.
To recreate this look, I used: Forbidden by Chanel, Beige Babe by Rimmel London, Marine Blue by The Balm and White nail art paint by Kiss Nail Art.
To get these ladyfingers:
1. Start with a dark brown nail
2. Paint a half circle of blue starting from the top of your nail ending at the center
3. Using your taupe, paint 1/4 of a circle on a corner of your nail
4. Repeat on the other corner leaving a small space of brown still exposed in the center
5. Using a white nail art brush, draw a squiggly line on the left side
6. Repeat making another line symmetrical with the one you just made
7. Top it off with Seche Vite’s Fast Dry Top Coat
MANICURE MUSE: Chanel Haute Couture Spring ‘12
Uncle Karl’s got the blues and it’s clear from his Spring Couture collection. Set in a space shuttle, our main man streamlined new modern silhouettes and textiles down the runway. You would never guess it, but this spectacular graphic giraffe print maxi is actually made of shimmery cellophane. Uncle Karl never fails to impress!
To emulate this look, I used “Midnight Blue” by Sinful, “Blingtastic” by Sally Hansen Gem Crush, and White by Art club.
1. Paint your nail dark midnight blue
2. Paint another coat of blue glitter
3. Using a thin white nail art brush or a white nail art pen, draw irregular connecting squares all over the nail
4. Top it off with Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
